Volunteers

DCHS is looking for volunteers!!

If you are looking to meet people. learn history, and build your resume then this is the place for you!! We are looking for historical interpreters (or docents), hosts, special events volunteers, and other volunteers to assist the staff in the daily operations of the museum. Scheduling and time commitments are flexible. Our volunteers work as little as one day a month, or as much as once a week.

The Dodge County Historical Society is a volunteer driven organization. Volunteers are the life blood of the organization and the activities, education, preservation and displays possible. 

Hosts:

Museum hosts greet visitors, collect admission money, handle museum shop sales, and orient visitors to the museum prior to their tour. No experience is necessary to be a host or a historical interpreter; training is provided.

Specialty Volunteers:

Assist with all aspects of the historic house, including exhibition research, photography, historic gardening, working in the archives, sewing costumes, working in the newsletter, helping with the website and other administrative support.

Special Event Volunteers:

Help with special events in programs and sometimes dress in costume. Some opportunities include: Garden party, Christmas in Wasioja, tours, and more.

As a Dodge County Volunteer, You can:

Provide educational and fun experiences for all, learn more about local history and pioneer life, meet new people from all over the world, develop new skills, make new friends, work a flexible schedule, receive on-going support and training, participate in events just for volunteers. There are no minimum hour requirements for receiving full volunteer benefits.
